Airtel Money Business

Airtel Money is Uganda's leading mobile money platform launched in 2012, serving over 5 million customers with financial inclusion services. As an Airtel Money agent, you'll operate a customer service point for deposits, withdrawals, transfers, bill payments, and other approved financial services, helping drive financial inclusion across Uganda.

How to get started

  1. Contact Airtel or an authorized distributor and apply for an agent account.
  2. Provide the required identification, business registration, premises, and compliance documents.
  3. Set up a secure location, signage, a phone or till, and enough cash and e-float for daily transactions.
  4. Learn the transaction procedures, customer verification rules, and fraud-prevention requirements.

Commissions and profits

Commission is normally paid per eligible transaction and varies by country, transaction type, customer tariff, and your agreement. Confirm the current rate card with Airtel before investing.

Your estimated profit is total commissions minus rent, staff, transport, cash-handling losses, taxes, and other operating costs. Use the official rate card and your expected transaction volume to prepare a monthly forecast. Commission figures on this page are not official or guaranteed.
